Movie #19 – The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) - 178 min, cert PG.
We follow Frodo Baggins and friends as the set out on their epic journey to destroy the One Ring and thereby defeat the dark lord Sauron.
This is undoubtedly a great movie. I originally went to the cinema to see it when it first came out, and I was blown away by it. I was completely carried along by the story and the special effects, and barely noticed the three hour running time. I’ve seen it several times on the small screen since then, mainly with my kids, and it’s starting to become a little over-familiar now.
Score – I’ll give it 8/10 as The Return of the King was probably better, so it sneaks onto the bottom of my top ten, but I don’t see it staying there for long.
